The Presence of a Thousand Consolations
The light of the Lord illuminates in the peaks, but shines brightest in the valleys. Hope is not in the distance where the shadow ends and the light begins. It beckons back to the beginning in the darkest parts of the shadow itself.
“Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,’
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.”
All life’s valleys are finite in the realm of His complete spatial emancipation. His nearness knows no height, nor breadth, nor depth. Even in darkness the earth is holy ground. Therefore, we can confidently traverse through the intricate terrains of our journey saying with the psalmist, “I will fear no evil, for you are with me”.
